Ensenada is a quick getaway for Southern Californians in search of good times. Ensenada offers several events and festivals, enjoy the wine festival that takes place in August. The wine harvest festival allows you to try the local wineries and enjoy local music. For the outdoor enthusiasts test your skills on the famous Rosarito to Ensenada Bike Ride, voted Best Cycling Event, fourth year in a row by readers of Los Angeles Sports & Fitness Magazine and Best Cycling Tour, second year in a row by readers of Competitor Magazine. Below is a list of local Ensenada Mexico events or festivals. JANUARY

New Years in Ensenada

Jan. 1 - Ano Nuevo - New Year's Day. Mexico and Ensenada rings in the New Year with celebrations featuring music, dance, food and fireworks. Streets are filled with venders, friends and families that congregate for parties that often last till dawn.

FEBRUARY

Carnival

Feb, Mar - Carnival - Similar to Mardi Gras in the U.S. Carnival is held six days before Ash Wednesday. Ensenada has celebrated this holiday since 1918. During the week there is a street fair, food and dancing in Ensenada. This attracts both locals and tourists.

Tecate Score Baja 250

Tecate Score Baja 250 - 250 mile off-road race starts in San Felipe and travels through Ensenada, and finishes in San Felipe. The event includes various types of vehicle classes such as small and large bore motorcycles, stock VW, production vehicles, buggies and trucks.

Rosarito to Ensenada Bike Ride - This is a bi yearly event that takes place in both April and again in September. This is a bike ride that attracts over 10,000 riders. The race starts in Rosarito and ends in Ensenada. Along the way there are several areas to stop and drink beers.

Newport to Ensenada Yacht Race

Newport to Ensenada Yacht Race - In the yachting world, no other international race attracts more entries. This annual event takes place the last weekend in April. With its spectacular starts off the shores of Newport Beach and finishing in Ensenada.

Fiesta de Vendimia

Fiesta de Vendimia - Every year during the month of August, the beginning of wine harvest season is celebrated in the Guadalupe Valley with a two week long series of cultural and culinary events, all under the title banner of Fiestas de la Vendimia (Wine Harvest Festival).

Rosarito to Ensenada Bike Ride

Rosarito to Ensenada Bike Ride - This is a bi yearly event that takes place in both April and again in September. This is a bike ride that attracts over 10,000 riders. The race starts in Rosarito and ends in Ensenada. Along the way there are several areas to stop and drink beers.

Día de la Independencia

Sept 15 - Dia de la Independencia - (Independence Day) September 15 & 16. Military parades and reenactment of the Grito or call for independence from Spain in 1810. Parades and fireworks are displayed throughout the city, but concentrated at El Jardin or the cities central garden.

Dia de los Muertos

Nov 1, 2 - Dia de los Muertos - (Day of the Dead). Altars are built in homes, markets and shops to honor and receive dead souls which return to earth once a year. The day of the dead is considered a festive celebration rather than mournful event celebrating departed loved ones.

Tecate Score Baja 1000 - 1000 mile off-road race from Ensenada to La Paz, and finishing in Ensenada. The event includes various types of vehicle classes such as small and large bore motorcycles, stock VW, production vehicles, buggies, trucks, and custom fabricated race vehicles.

Día de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe

Dec 12 - Dia de Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe - (Virgin of Guadalupe Day).The Virgin of Guadalupe is the patron saint of Mexico. She appeared to the Indian Juan Diego on the hill of Tepeyac in the early 16th century. Celebration includes mass, serenades and fiestas.
